How do you organize your minutes, hours, days, to dos, reminders, etc…?
Truth – I still have lists… whether on my phone or in my master journal, but I do not use a traditional day planner anymore – for years now. With all of my many calendars including, work, personal, household, family, school, and extra-curricular (Scouts, baseball), I would be adding and deleting things all day, every day. I also have two phones, so integration is key for me.
Instead, I use google calendars and name and integrate all of the calendars listed above into one master calendar on my phone/laptop. Everything shows up and is mostly automated – it’s soooo nice! My husband can add a golf day (assuming there’s no conflict, of course), and I can easily see if a baseball practice is rescheduled.

Typically, I just subscribe to a particular external calendar (the school, baseball, Pilates classes), and it shows up on my phone. For other things, for instance, if I receive a list of dates where a particular class is cancelled that I need to log manually, I will take a photo of the list, add a Reminder to add it, and save the photo to my “Calendar” Album in Photos. Then, when I have a few minutes, I check that photo and do my calendaring by manually adding those dates. I also have a calendaring morning once a week, blocked on my calendar of course, to double check the calendar for that week.
So, what about to dos, projects, notes, etc.. Well, for that, I often use my phone to quickly write down a note or a reminder – so easy. I also have a medium size ring binder (my master journal) with separate hole-punched notebooks that fit inside. Each notebook is labeled as Home, Work, Family, Personal, Blog, etc… This way, if I take a few notes from a meeting at work, it’s in that particular mini-notebook (Work), and I don’t have to go looking through a very long notebook, trying to find where I wrote something down about work. For Home, it includes fix it lists, projects or renovation info. And so on…
I believe there are some cool apps that can also help, perhaps that will be another post.
Have a happy week!
